IT DOESN'T ALWAYS HAVE TO BE A PAINFUL AFFAIR
If you have ever been to a waxing salon or studio, you would be familiar with the pain of having all your hairs being ripped forcefully out from their follicles via waxing. Waxing is not only a painful affair but a regular affair, as waxing removes the hair but does not impact the hair follicles, which continues to sprout hair.
In short, waxing is not only painful but does not provide a good ROI (return on investment) for your journey towards hair removal.
What about Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal, while able to lead to permanent hair reduction, has a slight drawback. It does not remove hair right away. In fact, only about 10% of the hair follicles are affected during each session. Most customers take about 8 to 12 sessions spaced about 28 to 30 days apart to see the best hair reduction.
However, if you persist at it, you will be totally done by next Summer!
Laser Hair Removal does not hurt as much as waxing
Yes, you read this right. SHR or Super Hair Removal does not hurt, due to the low fluence and rapid frequency setting - which is not only painless but also gentle on sensitive skin. This is different from waxing, which simply just hurts. No matter how good your waxer is or how long you have been doing it, waxing hurts.
Laser Hair Removal prices have become affordable
5 years ago, many customers opt for waxing because the laser hair removal technology was expensive and each treatment cost a lot of money. Fortunately, the price of the treatments have dropped to a point that they are actually competing with per-session waxing prices.
Wellaholic offers value-for-money SHR Unlimited packages
Over at Wellaholic, we offer SHR Unlimited packages. These packages are divided into two tiers:
Deluxe Tier allows SHR on unlimited body parts (spaced 28 days apart) with exception of Brazilian or Boyzilian.
Prestige Tier allows SHR on unlimited body parts including Brazilian or Boyzilian.
Note the 28 days gap? This is because each treatment should try to impact the hair follicles on a 28-day interval, to coincide with the hair's anagen growth. Any earlier or later would cause the treatment to fall out of sync with the hair growth cycle.

7 INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT MICRONEEDLING
Microneedling, also known by many as Collagen Induction Therapy or Skin Needling, is a cosmetic procedure which involves the rapid continous pucturing of the skin with tiny micro sterile needles.
The concept of this procedure is to create numerious "micro injuries" on the surface of your skin to improve your complexion through the resulting body's production of collagen. Microneedling has known to improve the appearance of acne scars (fading them), stretch marks, reducing pore size, improving the texture and quality of skin, and also to remove fine lines and wrinkles.
Fact 1: Microneedling is Ideal for a variety of skin types
Microneedling is ideal for anyone looking to improve their skin’s appearance and complexion. It is effective on both dark or light skin, people of all ages, dry or oily skin and even individuals with skin pigmentation issues. No matter what your skin is like, you can reap the benefits of microneedling, such as lifting and tightening, lessening skin discoloration and reduce pore size, among many other advantages.
Fact 2: Microneedling can lead to immense improvements
Do you know that Microneedling was actually discovered in the 1950s by a doctor who realized that by creating small injuries in the skin, collagen production was promoted within the body. This led to stronger skin and better skin texture. Since then, the technology related to microneedling has greatly improved. Both the techniques and tools have advanced over the decades making the procedure very safe and effective when administered by a trained professional.
Fact 3: Microneedling is not just for your face
Microneedling is most commonly applied to the face, however, the procedure can be performed on other parts of the body too. Individuals with stretch marks and scars have used microneedling to lessen the appearance of these marks on their body. This is because the procedure promotes the body to heal itself by producing and sending collagen to the treated area. In fact, As dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner of Zeichner Dermatology tells the publication, collagen and hair follicles exist in the same strata of the skin. When collagen production drops off (which it usually does around 30 years of age) it leaves hair follicles susceptible to weakening. Weak hair follicles don't grow long and strong hair. "Think of it like the frame of your mattress," he says. "Without it, the mattress would be clumpy and wrinkly." It's in this way that collagen is necessary for maintaining healthy hair follicles. While microneedling revs up collagen production in the scalp just like it does on the face, "it also brings blood flow and nutrients to the scalp and induces new stem cells that support hair growth," Jay explains. Studies support this. One in particular found that patients who used microneedling in conjunction with traditional hair loss therapies showed a greater improvement in hair re-growth after only 12 weeks.
Fact 4: Microneedling can be comfortable
Often, patients are nervous about the level of pain they will experience from cosmetic procedures, among other procedures. Fortunately, microneedling is not an uncomfortable or painful procedure because the needles are very thin. In fact, the needles are thinner than a strand of hair! Having said that, a bit of pain tolerance would be ideal as our therapists at Wellaholic have been trained to gradually increase the needle depth to improve the efficacy over time for better results. As they say, no pain, no gain!
Fact 5: Microneedling is a low-risk procedure
Because the infliction to your skin is so small and performed under clinical conditions, there is a very low risk of serious injury or infection. Other cosmetic procedures have more risks, but microneedling is astronomically safer in comparison. Also, there are virtually no side effects from the procedure as none have been reported to date. The biggest risk of microneedling is through ‘do it yourself’ products. Products can be purchased that enable your to perform microneedling on yourself at home, but there are more significant risks related to doing this. If microneedling is done too frequently, as it often is with do it yourself products, there is a risk that you will break capillaries in your face.
Fact 6: Microneedling can lead to promising results
Right after your first treatment, you will notice a bit of redness which clears up rather quickly. Once your skin clears up, you’ll notice an immediate dewy, glowy complexion and new plumpness to your skin. It is important to keep the skin hydrated over the course of a few days to restore the cells.
Microneedling can safely be repeated every 4 to 6 weeks until desired results are achieved. After four sessions spaced roughly one month apart, individuals have reported a big increase in collagen and elastin within 6 months of completing all the procedures. By using microneedling, you can have confidence in the results so long as you’re patient.
Fact 7: Microneedling is actually very affordable
In fact, if you compare the pricing for microneedling versus other laser and co2 fractional laser treatments, you will realise that microneedling is not only affordably priced but also has a very negligable downtime. The results delivered by microneedling can also be seen quickly and that is why microneedling is fast becoming a treatment of choice.

WELLAFREEZE FAT FREEZE ALWAYS STARTS WITH THE MEASUREMENT OF YOUR TREATMENT AREA
At Wellaholic, we take our fat freeze or cryolipolysis treatments very seriously. This is because the fat freeze treatments involves deep freezing, or apoptosis, which is the ideal exposure of sub-zero temperatures for non-invasive fat reduction.
The fat cells are eliminated through a gradual freezing process that does not harm surrounding tissues. The body's natural metabolic process will then remove the unwanted fat.
Now, because the thickness of the treatment area will impact the duration of treatment as well as the temperature, it is highly important that our therapists measure the treated layer via both a pinch test (with fingers) as well as with the calipers. The measurement is then recorded to gauge progress of the customer over time.
Even if the customer insists on adjust to a lower temperature or prolonging the treatment process, we do not allow it. This is because the safety of the customer must come first, and effectiveness and efficacy next. By overtreating the area, the chances of a freeze burn increases dramatically. A freeze burn is a very painful process , similar to a second-degree burn which can lead to permanent scarring. For the safety of all our customers, our therapists take extra caution to prevent any possibilty of freeze burns.
Also, if a customer wants to do several WellaFreeze Fat Freeze treatments in a single day, we will always limit the number of session to three hours a day. Why is this the case? Now, when several body parts are treated, it results in a high percentage of frozen dead fat cells, which affects the overall body acidity. This phenomenon, is known as metabolic acidosis. Metabolic acidosis is a condition that occurs when the body produces excessive quantities of acid or when the kidneys are not removing enough acid from the body, and may lead to lightheadedness, muscle twitching, prolonged muscle spasms and other complications. Once again, the safety of our customers always comes first!
With these possible complications, is there a silver lining? Fortunately, there is! WellaFreeze Fat Freeze uses the Coolsculping or Cryolipolysis procedure which has shown to be effective in removing between 14 to 28% of visceral fat 30 to 60 days after each treatment. This makes this treatment the safest non-invasive treatment to liposuction, which is more expensive and also carries higher risk.

WE ARE AS TRANSPARENT AS WE CAN GET
The beauty and aesthetics industry is unfortunately littered with establishments offering dubious trials and cheap treatments with a big catch. A $38 fat freeze might turn out to be only a 15 minute partial affair with the customer being pressured to buy a $5,000 package!!
At Wellaholic, we aim to change this. We are probably the only aesthetics establishment to display all our prices online as part of our transparent pricing policy. Prices are nett and GST-inclusive with no hidden costs. All customers are encouraged to come for a free consultation before they decide on a package. We pride ourselves for never pressuring our customers to commit to any package.
So if it's too good to be true at Wellaholic, it's probably true. We are as transparent as we can get.
We are Wellaholic.
SCIENCE OF ELIGHT (IN-DEPTH SERIES) #2 - AfterGlow
In this second segment of the Science of Elight series, we will share a bit more about the AfterGlow Red Light treatment and what it does for your skin.
Ageing Skin and the Loss of Elasticity
As we age, we lose our skin’s elasticity because we produce less collagen. Because of that, our skin loses its capability to bounce back in place. Several intrinsic and extrinsic factors contribute to the formation of fine lines and wrinkles.
Intrinsic factors are those that you have no control about such as your genes and your biological age. We will all grow old eventually and we cannot prevent time from aging us but we can grow old gracefully and concentrate on other factors that we can do something about.
External factors are those that our environment can influence such as cigarette smoking, drying effects of the weather, poor lifestyle and diet, exposure to harsh sun or too much UV-exposure, or by using harsh skin care products.
Using Red Light to Reverse Fine Lines and Wrinkles
Red light therapy powers up the cells to release Adenosine Triphosphate or ATP to increase the metabolism, cell regeneration, and cellular processes. The release of cellular energy makes the most of the nutrients, oxygen, detoxification, growth, and repair that is already started by exposure to red light treatment.
Red light therapy stimulates blood circulation and the development of new capillaries. Because of this, more nutrients and oxygen is delivered to the skin that results in a healthier radiance. This light stimulus gives you that instant glow that people associate with healthy and young skin.
Red light therapy also increases lymphatic system activity to reduce puffiness and swelling. Because of the increased blood circulation, the lymphatic system does a better job of removing excess fluids and wastes from the skin tissues. The results are instantaneous and can be noticed after the first and succeeding treatment.
Red light therapy also boosts the production of collagen and fibroblasts. These two superheroes are what makes you achieve the youthful appearance over time. Collagen (together with elastin) gives your skin the elasticity, firmness, and fullness that somehow disappears when people age. The increased collagen and fibroblasts help reduce pore size, smooth out fine lines and wrinkles, and help improve and smooth out the texture of the skin.
Case Studies on the use of Red Light to Reduce Fine Lines
A paper was published in the Photomag Laser Surg publication to investigate on the safety and efficacy of red light, involving 136 volunteers. Of these volunteers, 113 subjects randomly assigned into four treatment groups were treated twice a week with either 611–650 or 570–850 nm polychromatic light (normalized to ∼9 J/cm2 in the range of 611–650 nm) and were compared with controls (n=23). Irradiances and treatment durations varied in all treatment groups. The treated subjects experienced significantly improved skin complexion and skin feeling, profilometrically assessed skin roughness, and ultrasonographically measured collagen density.
In conclusion, Red Light Treatment (or RLT) or AfterGlow can lead to improvements in skin complexion as well as skin rejuvenation. AfterGlow provides a safe, non-ablative and non-thermal treatment of skin tissue with high patient satisfaction results. AfterGlow, when used on a regular and consistent basis as part of the Elight Facial Collagen Boost plan will help extend the spectrum of anti-ageing treatment benefits to the customers.
MICRONEEDLING IS THE ANTI-AGEING BEAUTY TREATMENT JENNIFER ANISTON CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT
When it comes to anti-aging beauty treatments, celebrities have tried it all. That said, there is one treatment that many — including Jennifer Aniston — swear by. So, what is this secret weapon against fine lines, wrinkles, and other visible signs of aging? Microneedling!
In interview with People Magazine, Aniston remarked, "it allows the serums and whatever products you’re using to really soak in." Aniston is referring to the fact that microneedling (thorugh the many micropunctures created on the skin) provides a short window of opportunity that allows post-treatment products to travel down the fresh channels in the skin reaching the important parts at concentrations that are not otherwise possible. These channels allow a momentary increase in permeability that is hundreds of times the normal degree that topical products can penetrate the skin. The effects of topical serums can be accelerated dramatically.
But that’s actually not the main benefit of microneedling.
The single most aging thing that happens to our skin is the gradual loss of collagen and elastin. Microneedling triggers the skins wound-responses causing it to produce new collagen and elastin and making the skin look and feel younger and firmer. Wrinkles are reduced, tones are evened and sagging is lifted.
Unlike many other profoundly effective treatments microneedling does not try to force skin cells into a different state unnaturally. Microneedling triggers the skin’s own native rejuvenation process and is, therefore, completely natural. For this reason it works amazingly well with all skin types.
